Inline Check Valve
Check Valve:
A check valve is a valve that closes to prevent backward flow of liquid; they are sometimes installed on the hot water outlet of the water heater.
Function
- A check valve is a one-way valve that allows water to flow in one direction only, typically preventing backflow.
- In an RV’s hot water system, the check valve is installed inline on the hot water outlet pipe of the water heater.
- It ensures that the heated water travels towards the faucets and fixtures, not back into the water heater tank.
Types of RV Hot Water Check Valves:

Brass:
A popular and durable option, brass check valves are known for their longevity and resistance to corrosion. They can withstand higher temperatures and pressures compared to plastic check valves.

Plastic:
A more affordable choice, plastic check valves are lightweight and easy to install. However, they might not be as durable as brass, especially in high-pressure or high-temperature RV plumbing systems.
